Charli XCX, Summer 2017

Production and lighting design by Rob Sinclair, Lighting Direction by Marc Thornton.

LEAPS helped aid creatives for Charli XCX by co-drafting the updates to the production design. Designer, Rob Sinclair, created an original draft that LEAPS drafter Emily would then add changes to, and include annotations and expand the basic information to create technical riders for the build and production.

The full set render

LEAPS was given the 3D files from the rendering process and brought them over to the plot. The "Air Men" were integrated and placed into positions specified by the design team. The long stem custom rose set pieces were also integrated from the 3D renders and placed accordingly.

The full plot

After the design team had specified placement on all production items, LEAPS went through and began to make different annotations to clearly explain the intent of the designers. The more information provided on the plot for such an intricate setup, the fewer calls and emails the designer has to field, which is the goal.

scenic breakdowns

The set consisted of custom made mirror dibond fascias that had to attach to the set decks. They custom pieces also had to be able to break down and store quickly and easily for flights, so no piece could be larger than 6' in any direction. So each piece had to be broken down by size in advance to be produced at the proper sizes, and clearly labeled so they could be assembled quickly.
